Fully Persuaded or Nah?
I can remember hearing a particular song (It Is So – Embassy Worship) that stirred something deep in my spirit. In it, the orator charges the room with a powerful question:
“Are you fully persuaded?”
That challenge quickly turns into a praise break and fiery repetition from the choir: “It is so! It is so! It is so!”
And I say—it is so. Right now, I say it is so. But that leads us to the deeper question: What are we believing God for? Are we fully persuaded… or nah?
Do you believe:
- That He has you in the palm of His hands? (Isaiah 49:16)
- That the hairs on your head are all numbered? (Luke 12:7)
- That He’s collected every tear you’ve cried, and every hope and dream you’ve pondered? (Psalm 56:8)
What Does “Fully Persuaded” Look Like?
At the time of this writing, I began to reflect on who in the Bible walked this way—fully convinced of God’s promises. I was drawn to Hebrews 11, where we find our “cloud of witnesses.” Let’s look at just a few of them:
- Abel was persuaded enough of God’s goodness to offer the firstfruits of his flock—and the fat portions too. (Genesis 4:4)
- Enoch lived such a devoted, consecrated life that God took him up—without him ever tasting physical death. (Hebrews 11:5)
- Noah built an ark under the guidance of the Lord, even though he had no physical proof of a storm. All he had was a word. (Genesis 6:13–22)
- Abraham left his father’s house and became a sojourner in foreign lands. He lived in tents, but he was firm in obedience, laying a foundation for nations yet to come. (Hebrews 11:8–10)
- Sarah believed that—even in old age—God was faithful to do what He had promised. (Hebrews 11:11)
These people weren’t just believers. They were engaged. Active. Fully persuaded.
The Word: Our Weapon and Our Mirror
If we want to be fully persuaded, we must be active and engaged in the Word of God.
- It’s not just any book.
- It is a spiritual book for spiritual people.
- It feeds the spirit and kills the flesh. (Hebrews 4:12)
That’s why some of us get sleepy while reading it. If you’re always tired when you open the Bible, your spirit may need deeper engagement. It’s not just a physical issue—it’s a spiritual one.
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” – Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
Why Some Believers Stay Carnal
There are many people who identify as “believers” but live more carnal than spiritual. Why?
Because they’ve settled for a form of godliness while denying the power that could actually make them godly. (2 Timothy 3:5)
You can appear good in public. You can have clean speech, kind habits, and charisma…
But godliness? That requires God.
You can’t be like God without being led by God. You need His Spirit.
How to Be Fully Persuaded in a Noisy World
We must engage with the Word of God on two levels:
- Naturally – By reading and studying the text.
- Spiritually – By pondering, praying through, and meditating on it.
You’ll also need to:
- Train your mind to be still.
- Take every loose thought and submit it to the Spirit of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
When the Mind is Too Full
Many of us can’t stay persuaded because our minds are cluttered with nonessentials:
- Social media
- News cycles
- Culture wars
- Endless content
These thoughts create a fence between us and our fellowship with the Lord. And that fence needs to be exposed and torn down.
You won’t tear it down by ignoring it. You tear it down by speaking the Word.
“Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” – John 17:17
Don’t Be Gentle With Doubt
Your mind must be commanded to give glory to God.
This is not a suggestion—it’s a strategy.
Some of those intrusive thoughts are tied to demonic programming. You must see doubt, fear, and discouragement for what they are: enemies of your soul. If a thought isn’t giving glory to God, it’s giving glory to the enemy.
So deal with those thoughts:
- Aggressively
- Immediately
- Strategically
Don’t allow doubt to linger. Doubt hurts the heart of God. It must be confronted and cast down. (James 1:6, Romans 14:23)
You Can’t Do This Without God
You need the Lord’s help.
You can’t walk in God’s power through sheer willpower or self-discipline. You can read books, take courses, go to church—but if your spirit isn’t submitted, you won’t be sustained.
“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of Hosts. – Zechariah 4:6
How to Grow in Expectation
Ask the Lord for a custom process for building your faith. Being fully persuaded requires surrender. It means letting go of the need to control outcomes.
Make these your core tools:
- Prayer
- Worship
- Praise
- Bible Study
- Stillness
You may not get it right every time. But train your mind to inquire of the Lord before you panic. Over time, this becomes your rhythm.
Final Reminder: Give Yourself Grace
We are all on a journey.
Only God knows exactly where you are. So don’t measure yourself against others. Measure yourself against His Word, not human highlight reels.
There’s no room for comparison in the Kingdom.
“We will all stand before the judgment seat of God.” – Romans 14:10
You’re Doing Great.
All is well with you. God is with you.
And if you feel like your faith has been sparked while reading this—I agree with you and declare:
It. Is. So.
